Wilton Education Hub- Breakaway Education.
From the very beginning of my business, I knew that I wanted to eventually provide a range of educational support services for families in the Wilton community.
Having grown up in Wilton, I experienced first-hand the drive out to access support services, where the closest options were Picton, Camden or Campbelltown, at best a 20–30 minute drive away.
When we first lived in Wilton, our weekly grocery shop was done in Campbelltown (well before Coles opened in Picton!). Because of this, I understand the impact that needing to travel for everyday services can have on a small community and I understand it from first-hand experience here in Wilton.
Wilton as an area is growing immensely every single year. What was once discussed around the old oval nearly 30 years ago is now becoming an actual reality (and yes – it really did take that long for things to be put into place).
Although we now have more local services: a chemist, a gym, cafés beyond the local takeaway, and a Woolworths, there is still a limit to the services available within the area. There is also a limit to the commercial spaces available for small businesses trying to serve the community.
For tutoring, we haven’t yet been able to find a space that is large enough, available, and financially sustainable to set up a permanent home.
But we are in Wilton at the Anglican Church on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.
Originally, we started working with Wilton families at the beginning of 2020, however, we all know how that year (and the years that followed) unfolded. At the beginning of 2025, we decided it was time to try again.
Now, in March 2026, we have been back in Wilton for over twelve months, and we continue to work towards strengthening our Wilton centre with a wonderful team of tutors and beautiful families who we work with every single week.
Wilton is currently in a huge growth phase. There is a lot of building happening, many new developments coming into the area, and Breakaway Education is proud to be part of that growth.
We are building the bridge that connects Wilton families to the support their children need, right here in their own community.
With a new preschool, primary school and high school on the way, more families will be able to stay within the Wilton area for schooling. As this happens, the need for local after-school supports and educational services will only continue to grow.
I care deeply about the work we are doing in Wilton because students who need support should be able to access it, no matter what their community looks like.
Every week we work with students who are struggling to find confidence in their abilities, alongside challenges with the skills they are developing within the classroom.
Helping students navigate these challenges, and supporting families through tutoring, educational discussions and advocacy for their children, is exactly what Breakaway Education was built upon ten years ago.
As a business that focuses on the whole child, we ensure that we have the important conversations and provide surrounding support for families as they navigate the schooling environment. This includes building partnerships with additional education supports that families may need, including occupational therapists, speech pathologists, psychologists, counsellors, professionals who conduct educational and academic assessments, and support for homeschooling families.
Through providing these services within the Wilton community, we aim to continue supporting students in literacy, maths, science, confidence, and learning development.
Because every child deserves to feel capable in their schooling environment.
Supporting Wilton families is not just part of our business — it is part of our story.
